Candidates should possess a culinary background and experience, blending culinary talent, business acumen, and teaching skills. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain sanitary conditions and adhere to Sur La Table policies and standard operating procedures. Knowledge of applicable wage and hour laws and the ability to handle, serve, and pour liquor are also required.
The Culinary Lead will model and direct employees to ensure customer service standards are met, deliver and hold employees accountable for an exceptional cooking class experience, contribute to an environment where employees are informed and capable through training, maintain proper storage and service procedures, ensure food items are cooked and served at the correct temperature, provide coaching and performance feedback to culinary employees, seek opportunities to increase sales, anticipate and solve problems, stay informed by maintaining product knowledge, ensure the accuracy of employee information, and appropriately partner with various departments as needed. They will also demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills and handle liquor, wine, and beer when preparing drinks, as well as fulfill any additional responsibilities assigned by the Resident Chef.
