Requirements

  • At least 5 years of advertising technology or general software platform legal experience, with a focus on transaction support, commercial contract drafting and negotiation, data governance and privacy, advertising and marketing technology, and artificial intelligence matters, either in-house or at a law firm
  • Practical, business-minded lawyer with significant professional experience in an in-house and/or reputable firm setting; US or Global experience preferred
  • Called to the Bar in one or more Canadian Provinces or one or more US states, with an active license to practice law in such jurisdiction(s)
  • In-house experience in advertising, technology, adtech, data, or media company
  • Able to “own” and manage projects from beginning to end, with an internally driven sense of follow through
  • Excellent legal and business judgment and proven ability to balance legal risks and business strategy
  • Exceptional writing skills, and an ability to create original drafted documents
  • Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to manage commercial and legal risks in a fast-paced, technology-focused environment
  • A desire to mentor and educate non-legal team members in a constructive and motivational way, consistent with StackAdapt culture and values
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • A positive, collaborative spirit, and a learning mindset
  • Adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and dependably with others in a remote setting
  • Candidates located anywhere in Canada or the US; occasional travel may be required

Responsibilities

  • Structure, negotiate, and draft a wide range of commercial agreements
  • Provide legal advice to key stakeholders on commercial and legal matters within the business
  • Provide thought leadership internally and externally
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to StackAdapters
  • Support the Revenue/sales organization, driving commercial transactions to close while ensuring compliance with legal and operational standards
