Responsibilities

  • Partner with asset management teams on engineering related matters to identify, explain, and manage risks
  • Assist internal clients with managing and reviewing engineering due diligence for proposed real estate investments (primarily commercial mortgage loans, low-income housing tax credits, and equity investments)
  • Perform construction monitoring for new construction and renovation debt and equity investments, including conducting site inspections to assess progress, identify issues, and ensure quality control
  • Identify and quantify significant engineering risks and costs for internal clients, including site civil and building structure/design/repair/maintenance considerations
  • Assist asset management and loan servicing with engineering issues, including review of site development and planning, construction plans/specifications, applications for payment, change orders, code review, insurance damage claims, and on-site inspections
  • Assist in selecting and managing engineering and construction consultants and firms for due diligence, construction/renovation projects, site civil improvements, and other engineering projects
  • Evaluate risks of the Aegon portfolio with respect to natural disasters
  • Support implementation of investor-driven energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives to reduce operating costs and environmental impact
