Position Overview

Dane Street is seeking Board Certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Occupational Medicine, and Neurology physicians to conduct Independent Medical Exams (IME) and Peer Reviews. This role offers the flexibility to customize your schedule and caseload within a standard Monday - Friday work week, while adhering to client-mandated turnaround times. Cases will be assigned or scheduled in your jurisdiction/area when available. Compensation is on a per-case basis.

Job Summary

Utilize your clinical expertise to review disability claims. Provide interpretations of the medical appropriateness of services rendered by other healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with state regulations, nationally recognized evidence-based guidelines, client-specific policies, procedures, performance standards, and URAC guidelines.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review all medical records and address all client-posed questions using state-mandated or other nationally recognized evidence-based criteria.
  • Ensure review rationales are clear, concise, and adequately supported by documentation.
  • Return cases on or before the established due date and time.
  • Maintain proper credentialing, state licenses, and any necessary special certifications or requirements.
  • Attend all required orientation and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including identifying and responding to quality assurance issues, complaints, regulatory issues, depositions, court appearances, or audits.
  • Identify, critique, and utilize current criteria and resources (e.g., national, state, professional association guidelines, peer-reviewed literature) to support sound and objective decision-making. Refrain from using limited-sample case studies or cohorts for decision-making.
  • Provide copies of any criteria utilized in a review with the report in a timely manner.
  • Conduct Independent Medical Exams in a clean, safe, and professional manner and setting.
