Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in automation engineering and IT/OT solution build in a manufacturing environment
  • Equipment integration experience using IoT applications, Ignition, OPC UA or PTC Kepware
  • Experience with automation technologies such as PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.), controls systems, robotics, or scripting (Python, VB, etc.)
  • Experience with PTC ThingWorx, QAD Redzone, or similar asset modeling software
  • Maintaining and optimizing network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and cabling
  • Familiarity with Digital Performance Management (DPM), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), digital analytical tools, and Industry 4.0 concepts
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with internal customers and all levels of management in a non-technical manner
  • Preferred: Experience with cloud-based automation platforms or IoT solutions
  • Preferred: Knowledge of databases, APIs, and system integration
  • Preferred: Prior work in the Life Science or Biotechnology industry
  • Travel requirement: 25%

Responsibilities

  • Identify hardware, software, and network architecture key to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications and compatibility with diverse applications
  • Partner with operations teams worldwide to automate production processes through technology like PTC Thingworx, Ignition and QAD Redzone
  • Develop, test, and deploy automated workflows, processes, and equipment to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Coordinate engineering activities to implement the automation part of strategic initiatives
  • Partner with Business Lead and IT-OT Automation Leads to support project teams in developing and improving process automation with IT-supported applications
  • Ensure compliance of company policies, procedures and objectives regarding processes, initiatives, and projects
  • Support solving shopfloor equipment and systems compatibility challenges to ensure a robust manufacturing ecosystem for implementation of shopfloor management applications
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and scalability
  • Plan, develop, and/or implement Digital solutions for new product introductions and optimization of manufacturing operations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain automation systems, ensuring data integrity and security
  • Act as a liaison between IT and OT teams
  • Develop and refine automation systems for manufacturing processes to standardize data collection
