Requirements

Candidates must be US citizens able to work domestically and obtain a low-level security clearance. A Bachelor's degree is required, along with proven experience leading ATO processes for federal systems, preferably within the VA environment. Strong knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and VA security policies is essential, as is expertise in creating and maintaining federal security documentation such as POA&M, SSP, PIA, and SARs. Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture principles and implementation approaches, excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders, and a detail-oriented approach to managing multiple security initiatives are also necessary.

Responsibilities

The ATO Specialist will guide the program through the entire security authorization process, from planning to continuous monitoring, ensuring compliance with VA and federal standards. This includes preparing and maintaining key security documentation like the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), System Security Plan (SSP), Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), and Security Assessment Reports (SARs). The specialist will collaborate with engineering and program management to generate control documents, track ATO status, and advocate for security best practices, including Zero Trust Architecture, to maintain the security, compliance, and resilience of the Voicebot platform.
