Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in economics, business management, or a related field, or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10 years in initiative, program, or project management, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience working within a large matrixed organization and leading strategic initiatives with IT is required. A strong understanding of technical domains such as digital, automation, AI, software development lifecycle, security, and infrastructure is necessary, along with proficiency in tools like Jira Align, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow PPM, or similar. Strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, familiarity with analysis frameworks, proficiency in Waterfall and Agile methodologies, executive stakeholder engagement, cross-enterprise collaboration, presentation, and communication skills are essential. Financial acumen, including initiative cost and value tracking, is also required. Preferred qualifications include Project Management Professional (PMP), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or comparable certifications, and a Master's or other post-secondary degree. Familiarity with health insurance and provider industries is a plus.
The Associate Vice President of Program & Project Management will design and lead an evolved program and project management function to improve project outcomes across the enterprise by maturing PM skills, tools, and processes. This role involves leading an enterprise Center of Excellence (CoE) and managing a PM organization within IT, ensuring business units have high-quality project management practices and staffing. Responsibilities include designing enterprise-wide PM role definitions and standards, intake and portfolio reviews, and rolling out a centralized initiative-tracking platform. The AVP will also lead a centralized IT PM function, overseeing approximately 200 IT project and program managers, ensuring IT initiatives are managed against stated outcomes, driving IT investment governance with executive leadership, and guiding organizational change related to improving project management in IT. Key duties include driving initiative review and governance, standardizing review timelines and processes, formalizing initiative valuation and tracking, overseeing adoption, ensuring project managers are equipped to drive initiatives to outcomes, and designing standards for PM roles in collaboration with HR. The role also involves planning enterprise-wide adoption of Jira Align and staffing, developing, and leading the centralized IT PM function.
