Total experience: minimum 8-14 years
Relevant experience: 8-12 years
Expertise in setup and configuring Netbackup server/client and tape libraries
Experience troubleshooting and resolving missed and failed Netbackup backups
Experience modifying and optimizing backup schedules
Experience improving automation and productivity of backups through scripting enhancements
Experience interfacing with vendors for escalation of issues
Experience performing catalog recovery in case of a disaster
Experience with advanced backup functions (e.g., configuring Oracle, SQL, SAP backup, NDMP backups, VMware VADP backup, SQL backup, exchange backup)
Experience processing tapes for offsite storage
In-depth hands-on experience managing, configuring, and troubleshooting IBM VTLs TS7650G, HPE MSL tape libraries, Quantum tape libraries, StorageTek SL tape libraries
Good skills in performance optimization
Experience solving complicated hardware cases and liaising with hardware vendor/Symantec support
Advanced troubleshooting skills to identify issue severity, resolve issues quickly, and prepare RCA
Expertise in Data Domain, Veritas Flex with VERITAS Netbackup or other enterprise-level backup applications
Knowledge of DD BOOST
Experience building, maintaining, patching, troubleshooting, compliance, decommissioning, and disposal of Data Domain & Flex appliance hardware
Strong knowledge of de-duplication, replication, and storage lifecycle policies concepts
Knowledge of migration to NetBackup from multiple other backup technologies
Knowledge of designing Netbackup solutions
Ability to provide root cause analysis and log evaluation after outages
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract/concrete variables
Ability to work on cross-functional teams
In-depth knowledge of capacity planning & backup provisioning
System administration experience on Windows, HPUX or Sun Solaris (VMware knowledge added value)
Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident management, Problem Management, Change Management)
Certification in Data Domain technology (added advantage)
Provide operational support on 24x7 rotation basis
Hands-on experience with other backup technologies like Avamar, Networker (added advantage)
Knowledge of ticketing tools (Remedy, USD, SNOW, etc.)
Interpersonal sensitivity and customer responsiveness
Leadership skills
Excellent knowledge of IT environment and future trends
Ability to communicate complex technical contents plainly and simply

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve missed and failed Netbackup backups
Modify and optimize backup schedules
