Accounting & Payroll Specialist

Position Overview

Luna is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Accounting & Payroll Specialist to join our rapidly growing, mission-driven company. This newly created role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to both our People Operations and Finance functions, supporting payroll processing, employee onboarding, benefits administration, and general accounting tasks. You will report directly to the Payroll Supervisor and play a key part in shaping the future of a company dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Review timesheets for accuracy and compliance with state labor laws (e.g., California).
• Process bi-weekly payroll, including downloading and reviewing reports, and compiling payroll entries for the General Ledger (GL).
• Assist People Operations with new hires, terminations, and promotions.
• Support employees with benefits enrollment and reconcile benefits invoices with payroll deductions (medical, dental, vision, and 401k).
• Manage and maintain time off policies within ADP.
• Maintain state payroll tax accounts and create new accounts as required.
• Maintain supporting payroll documentation.
• Process accounts payable, including invoices and expense reports.
• Reconcile corporate credit card transactions.
• Assist the accounting team with NetSuite bank transaction matching.
• Implement process improvements to streamline functions.
• Assist with special projects as needed.

Job Requirements

• Experience:
  • 5+ years of payroll and human resources experience.
  • Multi-location experience is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of general accounting and/or accounts payable experience.
• Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong working knowledge of ADP, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.

Compensation

• Salary: $20 - $28 per hour
• Compensation is based on experience and geographic location.
