Requirements

Candidates should have a strong background in databases, with a preference for distributed databases like YugabyteDB, CockroachDB, or Apache Cassandra. Solid experience as a System Administrator for Unix/Linux environments is required. Experience in a customer-facing technical support role, proficiency with SQL and database administration concepts, strong sysadmin skills in Unix/Linux including shell scripting (Bash, Python), familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are also necessary. Hands-on experience with YugabyteDB, experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, and a genuine passion for open-source technology are ideal.

Responsibilities

The YugabyteDB Support Engineer will work directly with enterprise customers to troubleshoot, replicate, and resolve complex technical issues. They will become a technical expert in YugabyteDB, its architecture, and its ecosystem, providing an exceptional customer experience through timely and effective communication. The role involves acting as a customer advocate, collaborating with engineering and product teams to resolve bugs and enhance the product. Responsibilities also include developing and contributing to the internal and external knowledge base, participating in a follow-the-sun, on-call rotation, managing and prioritizing a queue of support tickets, and administering and troubleshooting Unix/Linux environments as they relate to YugabyteDB deployments.
