Requirements

Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience with relational database systems and 1+ year in a DBRE or SRE role. Experience working in the cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure, with Azure preferred) is required, along with coding and automation experience. Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible and Terraform, and source control systems like GIT is necessary. SQL Server experience is preferred, with MySQL and PostgreSQL being nice to have. Experience managing Very Large Databases (VLDBs) over 1TB and a large number of databases (100+) is also required. Familiarity with languages such as Powershell, C#, SQL, and Python is needed, and additional experience with tools like Git, Jira, Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Grafana, InfluxDB, and NoSQL databases is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Database Reliability Engineer will manage, build, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-based database infrastructure for mission-critical SaaS applications. They will improve processes through automation and coding to reduce toil, and liaise with engineering and SRE teams to support new products requiring database support. Responsibilities include working on the observability of database metrics to meet objectives, collaborating with the DBA team to implement automation for managing databases at scale, and adopting a data-driven approach to performance and availability improvements. The role also involves providing database support to engineering and SRE teams, including reviewing database migrations, queries, performance optimizations, and standardizing configurations and deployments. Additionally, they will assist the DBA team in performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Some on-call or after-hours work will be required.
