The Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) is responsible for managing, building, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting the cloud-based database infrastructure that supports our mission-critical SaaS application. This role also focuses on improving processes through automation and coding to reduce toil and liaises with engineering and SRE teams to support new product launches requiring database expertise.


Responsibilities

  • Work on observability of relevant database metrics to ensure desired database objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with the DBA team to identify areas of toil and implement automations/processes to manage PointClickCare's database systems at scale.
  • Implement a data-driven approach to performance and availability improvements for stakeholder database systems.
  • Provide database support to engineering and SRE teams, including reviewing database migrations, queries, performance optimizations, standardizing configurations, and deploying new database systems.
  • Assist the DBA team in performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Requirements and Skills

  • 3+ Years of experience working with relational database systems.
  • 1+ years of experience in a DBRE or SRE role.
  • Experience working in the cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) - Azure preferred.
  • Coding and Automation experience.
  • Experience working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform.
  • Experience working with source control systems like GIT.
  • SQL Server experience preferred; MySQL, PostgreSQL are nice to have.
  • Experience working with Very Large Databases (VLDBs, 1+ TB) and managing a large number of databases (100+).
  • Proficiency in languages such as Powershell, C#, SQL, Python.

Additional experience with the following tools/systems is a plus: Git, Jira, Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Grafana, InfluxDB, and flavors of NoSQL databases.

Note: Some on-call or after-hours work will be required.


Company Information

At PointClickCare, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package. The USD base salary range for this position is $126,000-135,000 (not overtime eligible), plus bonus and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by job and level, and the displayed range reflects the target for new hire salaries across all US locations.
