Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, telecommunications, or related field; or Associate's degree in mentioned field with 2 years relevant work experience; or HS diploma/GED with 4 years relevant work experience
2 years of relevant work experience in addition to education-related experience
Valid Driver's License
Entry to basic level knowledge of communications technologies and inter-networking principles
Competency in analytical techniques for basic assignments (e.g., dividing problems into steps and analyzing each)
Fundamental understanding of pertinent telecom equipment, materials, systems, and business processes
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to be a team player and relate to people in an open, friendly, and sincere manner

Responsibilities
Participate in design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of AEP's intermediate and enterprise telecommunication networks and systems (IP Network Technology, Operational Technology networks, CORE and Backbone networks, Transmission, Distribution, and Generation environments; vendors: Cisco, Arista; tools: Cisco SDWan Manager, Cisco FMC, Cisco FND, SolarWinds, Arista Cloud Vision)
Follow policies, practices, procedures, standards, company rules, regulations, and external agency requirements
Prepare cost estimates for engineering assignments using established guidelines
Perform documentation of project work using established guidelines
Perform network assignments
Analyze network performance, troubleshoot, and provide resolutions to technical problems
Follow standard workflow for engineering projects; apply economic analysis techniques and adhere to budgeting and approval processes
Demonstrate knowledge of AEP networks, components, and facilities for efficient project and problem responses
Learn AEP's organizational structure and specific role/responsibility of organizational unit
Perform straightforward network architecture assignments under moderate direction, supporting planning, researching, evaluating, designing, and developing network systems; participate in configuration, installation, and performance analysis
