As a Technical Delivery Manager at Wordly, you will be responsible for overseeing the progress of multiple software projects throughout their entire development lifecycle. These projects can range from new product features for real-time translation to infrastructure improvements ensuring scalability and availability. You will collaborate with outsourced engineering teams to maintain Wordly's high quality standards. Your role involves working closely with product managers, engineering managers, technical leads, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain project milestones and schedules, ensuring timely delivery within scope. You will be adept at risk identification and management, proactively addressing potential roadblocks. Strong organizational skills are essential for regular project status communication to senior management and stakeholders. With a background as a software engineer, you bring valuable perspective to the challenges of developing and shipping high-quality software. You will also play a hands-on role in delivering software releases to Wordly's production environment on a regular cadence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong technical background with at least 4+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • At least 2+ years of experience in project/delivery management for software products.
  • Experience overseeing at least one major software project from concept to delivery in a project/delivery management capacity.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects to satisfy business and engineering objectives.
  • Outstanding communication and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical and business concepts clearly and simply across domains.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, taking initiative and making informed decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to devise creative solutions and workarounds.
  • Willingness and ability to work with external and outsourced teams in varying time zones.
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as an engineer or manager on other translation and/or transcription software solutions.
  • Experience as an engineer or manager for a cloud-based software solution.
  • Hands-on experience with microservice architectures.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins, ArgoCD).
  • Familiarity with Git.
  • Experience working with quality assurance teams.
  • B.S. degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and oversee achievable project milestones and schedules, ensuring on-time and within-scope delivery of high-quality product features.
  • Manage outsourced engineering teams to ensure adherence to statements of work and that all deliverables meet Wordly’s acceptance criteria.
  • Regularly assess and manage project risks to identify and address potential issues in advance.
  • Communicate with engineers on a technical level to develop accurate schedules and better understand potential roadblocks and challenges that may increase project risk.
  • Create, organize, and share detailed project documentation with stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment on key business and engineering objectives.
