Sr. Solutions Engineer - Federal

Position Overview

LaunchDarkly is seeking a talented Sr. Solutions Engineer to serve as a trusted technical advisor to a hybrid set of accounts, including Public and Private sector clients. This role is integral to LaunchDarkly's federal sales strategy, providing technical guidance to federal and commercial customers, partners, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in the federal space, extensive experience within the federal ecosystem, excels at active listening, prioritizes customer success, and demonstrates profound technical expertise with a customer-centric focus.

Note: We are currently prioritizing candidates in the Washington, DC area.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead in the sales process for both commercial and Federal prospects and customers, from discovery and demos to proof-of-concepts (PoCs).
  • Partner with Customer Success & Professional Services to drive expansion.
  • Translate complex government requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, DoD SRG) into actionable technology solutions.
  • Partner with account executives to develop and present compelling technical proposals tailored to mission-critical objectives.
  • Lead or support technical responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
  • Conduct customer-facing presentations, demonstrations, and whiteboarding sessions.
  • Design scalable architectures that meet federal compliance and security standards.
  • Act as a liaison between the federal client and internal product/engineering teams to ensure feedback is incorporated into product development.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of company products, integrations, and industry trends within the private and public sector.
  • Partner with product marketing and enablement for Public Sector specific content.
  • Travel as required to support customer meetings and industry events.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in a solutions engineering, sales engineering, or systems architecture role, ideally with experience supporting federal clients.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Google Cloud for Government).
  • Experience with federal security and compliance frameworks: FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, DoD IL levels, etc.
  • Strong technical background in areas such as the SDLC, security, networking, cloud architecture, or DevSecOps.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with federal agencies or systems integrators.
  • Active U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with agile development and DevOps methodologies.

Pay and Benefits

Target Pay Ranges (On Target Earnings - OTE, includes base pay and commission):

  • Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or New York City Metropolitan Area: $220,000 - $275,000
  • Zone 2: Boston, DC, Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Seattle: $195,000 - $250,000
  • Zone 3: All other US locations: $185,000 - $235,000

LaunchDarkly operates with high trust and transparency. Pay ranges are stated to align with your needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Geographic pay zones within the United States are defined by counties surrounding major metropolitan areas.
