Requirements

Candidates must have over 7 years of experience in alliance management, business development, academic/industry partnerships, or clinical research operations, preferably within diagnostics, biopharma, or health tech. A proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder research collaborations with academic medical centers or large health systems, including joint steering committees, is essential. Strong working knowledge of institutional research structures such as IRBs, CRUs, data governance, grants, and publications is required. Experience with investigator-initiated trials, collaborative research studies, or real-world evidence programs is necessary. A background in genomics, molecular diagnostics, or population health science is highly desirable, as is familiarity with HIPAA, IRB processes, and data-sharing regulations. Experience managing alliances that integrate genomic, phenotypic, or EMR data for research or product development is also preferred. The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, possesses strong project management skills and attention to detail, and is relationship-driven with excellent interpersonal, communication, and diplomacy skills, comfortable navigating ambiguity, solving problems, and aligning diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The Sr. Director of Alliance Management will lead and scale strategic collaborations with academic centers, health systems, hospital networks, and precision medicine teams, owning contracting and execution of research collaborations including data sharing, biobanking, investigator-initiated studies, and real-world evidence programs. This role serves as the primary liaison between Natera and its strategic institutional partners, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, driving accountability, and building long-term, trust-based partnerships. Key responsibilities include owning the contracting and operational management of research partnerships, serving as the point of contact for external and internal stakeholders, and ensuring partner satisfaction through structured engagement and governance models. The role involves driving execution of partnership deliverables such as collaborative studies, protocol design, data-sharing frameworks, contract milestones, and scientific publications, while coordinating internal project teams and mitigating risks. Additionally, the Sr. Director will support the development of joint research agendas, facilitate publication planning, partner with R&D and Data Science for data pipeline integration, and work closely with internal teams to scope, negotiate, and launch new partnerships aligned with Natera’s strategic goals. This includes supporting business units in identifying high-value partners and contributing to the evolution of partnership models and internal alliance playbooks.
