Experience with, passion for, and knowledge of social media and other digital communications platforms, audiences, and trends is required.
The Social Media Specialist will shape and execute digital communications strategies, including advising on and advancing the strategy for the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikipedia social media channels, and creating daily and campaign-specific content. Responsibilities include overseeing a social media content calendar, scheduling posts, collaborating with colleagues to develop digital campaigns, and regularly monitoring and maintaining social media channels by moderating comments, sharing relevant content, and engaging with followers. The role involves proactively identifying strategic opportunities for engagement, supporting staff development as online thought leaders, creating training materials for Wikimedia community groups, organizing and sharing metrics and data to inform strategy, working with marketing teams on paid social media promotions, assisting with rapid response and crisis management, and managing the relationship with the social media agency.
