Requirements

Candidates should have prior furnace operations experience and at least three years of manufacturing experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to provide clear instructions. The role requires the ability to work in high temperatures, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and grasping. Applicants must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights, and commit to a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including days and nights.

Responsibilities

The Shipping Operator is responsible for maintaining exceptional attendance and prioritizing safety for themselves and others by following all policies and procedures. They will monitor and maintain proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing, and work with QC and carriers to approve raw material unloading. Responsibilities include evaluating batch plant control systems data and making adjustments for efficiency, monitoring and controlling glass formation in the furnace and forehearth, and adjusting critical process variables. The operator will inspect furnaces and forehearths, assist with furnace changes, upsets, start-ups, shutdowns, repairs, and rebuilds, and guide maintenance personnel in repairs. They will also perform minor repairs and process adjustments, and maintain excellent housekeeping in all areas of responsibility.
