Facility Design Engineer
Oklo- Full Time
- Junior (1 to 2 years)
The Plant Layout Designer should possess an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting and Design, or a related design discipline, along with at least 5 years of experience designing process plants, such as refineries, chemical, or petrochemical facilities, with a preference for high-temperature applications. Candidates must understand codes, standards, and regulations like ANSI, API, and ASME 1 and B31.3 pertaining to power equipment and facility design, and be proficient in using AVEVA or PDMS.
The Plant Layout Designer will develop 2D drawings and 3D models of equipment and piping systems for Kairos Power engineering projects, generate detailed general arrangement drawings of the plant and piping isometrics using computer-aided design software, collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery, support the preparation of reports including line lists and valve schedules, identify potential problems and develop cost-effective solutions, and contribute to the preparation of procurement, fabrication, and construction packages including 3D models, 2D drawings, and reports for the KP-FHR technology, while demonstrating knowledge and application of deliverables prepared by other engineering disciplines.
Designs and demonstrates advanced nuclear reactors
Kairos Power focuses on providing clean and affordable energy solutions through advanced nuclear reactor technology. Their main product, the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High-Temperature Reactor (KP-FHR), is designed to be cost-competitive with natural gas while maintaining a near-zero carbon footprint and low water usage. This technology is aimed at utility companies, government agencies, and private firms seeking sustainable energy options. Unlike many competitors, Kairos Power emphasizes the integrated design, licensing, and demonstration of their reactors to prove their safety and reliability. Their goal is to attract investments and partnerships to scale their technology and contribute to a cleaner energy future.
