Requirements

Knowledge and experience in managing SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) profiles, culture, systems, and policies
Expertise in HSE management systems, including ISO 14001 (EMS) and ISO 45001 (HSE) for Southern Africa operations
Proficiency in QMS (ISO 9001), process standardization, and international standards application
Familiarity with manufacturing quality plans, inspections (incoming, in-process, final, visual, dimensional), and testing (performance, laboratory)
Understanding of local HSE regulations, risk assessments, accident recording, and compliance reporting in South Africa
Ability to handle customer technical inquiries, claims, warranty processes, corrective/preventive actions (A3/8D)
Skills in developing/implementing SOPs, strategic/operational plans, and process improvements

Responsibilities

Manage, implement, and verify SHEQ profile, culture, systems, and policies of Xylem
Manage all SHEQ activities within departments, including quality plans for raw materials, parts, and finished products
Oversee SHEQ activities for in-process production and services within and outside the facility
Implement response processes for customer technical inquiries, support, claims, and warranty corrective/preventive actions
Develop and implement SHEQ strategic and operational plans
Manage HSE management systems for Southern Africa, ensuring compliance with Xylem policies and provisions
Ensure safe operations in each area, link Xylem policies to operations, safe workplace, risk assessments, accident records, and HSE regulatory compliance
Manage overall manufacturing quality plan, including inspections and testing of products/parts at South Africa facility
Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections; implement inspection hold-points
Prioritize and incorporate special customer requirements into work orders over standard processes
Design, develop, analyze, validate, and improve SOPs for processes and procedures
Lead QMS (ISO 9001), standardize processes/systems for economies of scale, harmonization, and simplification
Ensure on-time closure of customer quality claims using A3/8D reports as needed
Drive process improvements and support change activities
Manage sample approvals and status for internal/external production, new products, or suppliers
Execute additional tasks assigned by Plant Manager/Site Leader
Lead EMS (ISO 14001) and HSE (ISO 45001) management systems
Ensure compliance of environment, safety, health, and security activities with Xylem policies, local laws, regulations, and customer requirements
Perform accurate and timely internal (e.g., EHS metrics) and external reporting to authorities
Notify MET management and emerging market EHS Director of significant accidents, injuries, fires, and other incidents
