Position Overview
Northwestern Mutual is seeking a Senior Software Asset Management Specialist to join the IT Asset Management Team. This role is crucial in designing, developing, and managing IT Asset Management processes, supporting a wide array of initiatives and collaborating with various organizational teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of licensing metrics from top-tier software publishers, experience with diverse SAM tools, and the adaptability to contribute to multiple key initiatives.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Software Asset Management.
- Demonstrate familiarity with top-tier software licensing terms and conditions.
- Deconstruct software licensing contracts into actionable license reconciliation rules.
- Maintain self-organization and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Develop metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to support the Software Asset Management function.
- Develop and maintain complex operational processes with supporting documentation.
- Develop and maintain corporate policies and standards.
- Support internal and external audits as necessary.
- Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for one or more technology domains.
- Partner with vendors and enterprise teams on emerging best practices, patterns, and technology.
- Proactively learn emerging platforms and related technology.
- Solve complex technical issues and enable/teach peers to be self-sufficient.
- Establish and maintain best practices related to compliance, security, privacy, and legal requirements.
- Anticipate deviations from standard practices and find practical solutions.
- Stay informed about industry trends relevant to your domain and apply them appropriately.
- Break down complex problems into manageable parts and assist others in doing so.
- Understand, utilize, and teach available tools relevant to your domain.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 4-5 years of professional experience.
- Highly Desired:
- 5 years of professional IT Asset Management experience.
- ServiceNow SAM Pro experience.
- Fundamental Hardware Asset Management experience.
- Fundamental Configuration Management experience.
- ITIL foundations.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CSAM, ServiceNow Implementation Specialist - Software Asset Management Professional).
- Familiarity with industry regulations.
- Ability to analyze large data sets related to software installations, computer/server configurations, and license reconciliation.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills within your area of expertise and solid troubleshooting in adjacent domains.
- Solid understanding of traditional or cloud computing technologies, including Networking, Compute, Storage, Development, Data, Operations, or Security.
- Experience with multiple delivery methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
Compensation
- Pay Range Start: $92,750.00
- Pay Range End: $172,250.00
- Geographic Specific Pay Structures:
- Structure 110: $102,060.00 USD - $189,540.00 USD
- Structure 115: $106,680.00 USD - $198,120.00 USD
Note: Final salaries are determined by factors including candidate skills and experience, market conditions, location, and other hiring process elements. Geographic-specific pay structures may apply for candidates in locations like California or New York City.
