Candidates must have a BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with at least 12 years of experience operating production services at scale. Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes administration, containerization, microservices architecture, Kubernetes operators, and distributed systems is required. Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, proficiency in Python or Go, and in-depth knowledge of Linux, TCP/IP networking, and cloud security standards are essential. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex DNS, network, Kubernetes, and systems issues in production, proficient knowledge of SRE principles (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident handling), and experience building observability stacks with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog are also necessary.
The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will support large-scale Kubernetes services before launch by consulting on system creation, developing software tools, platforms, and frameworks, managing capacity, and conducting launch reviews. They will build, implement, and support operational and reliability aspects of large-scale Kubernetes clusters, focusing on performance, monitoring, logging, and alerting. Key duties include defining SLOs/SLIs, monitoring error budgets, streamlining reporting, maintaining live services by measuring availability and latency, and scaling systems sustainably through automation. The role involves evolving systems to improve reliability and velocity, leading incident triage and root-cause analysis, practicing balanced incident response and blameless postmortems, and participating in on-call rotations.
