Responsibilities

  • Recommend healthcare plan design, governance, and communication of US benefits, including ongoing comprehensive review of US healthcare plans (including retiree benefits), assessment of retirement plan market competitiveness, and consideration of union sensitivities
  • Establish annual priorities and short/long-term strategy for benefit programs, including a holistic benefits and wellness approach and philosophy
  • Manage annual renewals and enrollment across internal and external resources
  • Manage external vendors: day-to-day relationships, strategy discussions on new solutions/enhancements, utilization reviews, operations optimization, bi-weekly meetings on employee issues, ad hoc communications/updates, escalated member issues, reporting, and unforeseen deliverables
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on compliance; develop recommendations for governance framework and policy
  • Advise on marketplace trends, local laws, and factors impacting plan performance and competitiveness
  • Design and price benefit plans to maximize employee benefits/wellness outcomes while managing costs; develop solutions for plan design, population health management, cost savings, and improvements aligned with company objectives
  • Track benefits utilization and spend data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide budget oversight
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws/regulations, perform plan filings and audits, maintain plan qualification, and work with legal counsel on notices, amendments, documents, eligibility appeals, FAS 106 retiree info, SARs, claims procedures, and appeals processes
  • Lead the design (inferred from context of benefits strategy and projects)
