Candidates should have 12+ years of experience in product management and/or production support leadership, with significant experience in payments, fintech, or SaaS platforms. A proven track record of setting vision and strategy for a product portfolio and translating it into a roadmap with rigorous end-to-end execution is required. Strong leadership and mentorship skills, exceptional communication abilities, deep understanding of the payment industry ecosystem (card brand regulations, ISO 8583, EMV, digital wallets, gateway services, security services), and deep technical acumen with familiarity across APIs, cloud services, distributed systems, and modern production support practices are essential. Proficiency in identifying key metrics, analyzing data, and balancing quantitative and qualitative information to make decisions is also necessary.
The Senior Director will lead a team of Product Managers and the global Product Support team to ensure the platform is scalable and reliable, supporting customer growth. They will shape the strategic direction of the core platform and production support experience, champion a product vision for scalability and operational excellence, and elevate production support to a proactive differentiator. This role involves enabling the company to move faster by building resilient systems, driving alignment between customer needs, operational realities, and product investments, and delivering measurable improvements to customer satisfaction and retention by embedding support insights into product planning. They will also ensure Marqeta stays ahead of market shifts by turning external signals into internal advantage, connect platform capabilities with customer outcomes, grow and mentor a senior product organization, and create an executive-friendly view of production health, product performance, and platform risk.
