The Opportunity

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of data solutions to enable our engineering, operations, and business teams to leverage its data effectively, better automate its processes, and monitor and react to issues. This engineer will play a major role in Flock Safety’s real-time analytics technical strategy and execution.

The Skillset

Experience with Data Stack/Infrastructure and tooling such as:

• Data Warehouse: Redshift, GCP, etc.
• Infrastructure as Code/Deployment: Terraform, GitHub Actions
• Data Ingestion: Debezium, Third Party APIs, Streaming (Kinesis Data Firehose)
• Data Transformation: DBT, Prefect
• Observability: Grafana
• Reporting/Data Visualization: Sigma, QuickSight

Additional Qualifications:

• Able to take on complex problems, learn quickly, iterate, and persist towards a good solution
• Effectively communicate, at the level of your audience, and seek to understand and be understood

90 Days at Flock

We are a results-oriented culture and believe job descriptions are a thing of the past. We prescribe to 90 day plans and believe that good days lead to good weeks, which lead to good months. This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as a Senior Data Engineer at Flock Safety.

The First 30 Days:

• Meet the team & cross-functional stakeholders
• Understand the systems and processes in place that Data Engineering uses, and leverage them to produce additional value.
• Focus on setup and onboarding to the things that matter to deliver value (the “first day push”).

The First 60 Days:

• Support and develop Data Engineering initiatives (ETL pipeline, API ingestion, etc.)
• Learn the cross-team relationships and work, and use them to drive a larger impact to the company.

90 Days & Beyond:

• Become responsible for the team’s systems and processes, and making sure they are well-engineered.
• Identify at least 3 issues/optimizations for the team.
• Act as a Reviewer for all Data Engineering PRs.
