Requirements

Candidates must possess a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and be a current member of the California Bar or a Registered In-House Counsel in good standing. A minimum of 5-8 years of relevant practice experience, with at least 4 years as an in-house attorney, is required. Prior in-house experience at a technology company, familiarity with legal guidance for marketing claims and product liability, and knowledge of product regulatory matters for hardware or software products are highly desired. Experience supporting software or hardware-based business models is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Senior Counsel will provide high-quality legal advice on product development and marketing matters to internal teams, including product management, marketing, engineering, and sales. Responsibilities include reviewing and drafting advertising and marketing materials, advising on product lifecycle requirements, and staying current with legal best practices in technology product development and marketing, particularly concerning intellectual property and privacy. The role also involves preparing, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements for software licensing, co-marketing, strategic alliances, and hosted services, as well as identifying and analyzing business and commercial issues connected with legal matters.
