Position Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Senior Business Insights Developer to join their team. This role involves developing and maintaining data products, collaborating with various departments, and ensuring data quality.

Employment Details

  • Travel: Up to 5% domestic and international travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries for data analysis and reporting.
  • Present solutions consistent with architecture and application design.
  • Design system architecture, data models, information flow, input/output configuration, and reports.
  • Design, implement, and maintain data products (dashboards, reports, ETL pipelines).
  • Work within an Agile scrum team to design, develop, unit test, debug, and maintain applications.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations departments for meetings and resource assignments.
  • Perform needs/requirements analysis and recommend solutions; interact with customers on business requirements.
  • Provide tier one support for system availability on a rotating basis.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify and analyze data requirements, design data models, and define data structures.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy in all data products.
  • Create and maintain documentation for all data products.
  • Support various Business Solutions including ingestions, data models, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of Business Intelligence and Insights, Data Science, or related experience.

Required Knowledge or Experience

  • SQL development against RDBMS (queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers).
  • ETL development using SSIS.
  • SSAS data design and modeling (Multidimensional - MDX, Tabular - DAX) with Row level data security.
  • On-premises data warehouses, particularly Oracle.
  • SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
  • AWS Cloud services (Athena, Airflow) and Git Source Control.
  • Root cause analysis with cross-functional divisions.
  • Data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Web Methods systems integration.
  • EDI ANSI X12 standards.
  • IDMS, VSAM Network data sets.
  • Cloud data lakes (e.g., Databricks).
  • Spark and event streaming (e.g., Kafka).
  • Data governance principles.
  • Data quality management.
