Position Overview
Marqeta is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join the Risk, Fraud, and Disputes Product Team. This role is crucial for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and developing strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity within the payment card programs, with a specific focus on fraud, risk, and disputes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Data Science, Engineering, Legal, and Operations, and will present findings to Marqeta's customers to help solve their problems.
The Impact You'll Have
- Work with diverse internal teams and customers to understand payment card programs, with a specific emphasis on fraud, risk, and disputes.
- Engage directly with customers to understand their business requirements and share best practices to drive growth.
- Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions.
- Stay informed on industry best practices related to payment risk, fraud, and disputes.
- Collaborate with the Data Science team to identify new product opportunities and new data capabilities beneficial to Marqeta and its customers.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Marqeta’s data attributes and its ecosystem.
- Assess current data capabilities and develop a roadmap for future state improvements.
- Convert existing data capabilities into new product opportunities.
- Define product metrics, build reporting, and monitor performance, using data to drive decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to ongoing optimization efforts.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders and executives.
- Champion a delightful customer experience with a customer-first approach.
Who You Are
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in business analysis or product management and development; experience in maturing products already on the market.
- Data Analysis Skills: Good understanding of data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, Python (or R), and Tableau (or Looker).
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the payment industry, including risk, fraud, and disputes.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or another quantitative field.
- Problem-Solving: Proven track record of applying analytical/statistical methods and testing to solve real-world, data-driven problems.
- Work Ethic: High attention to detail, ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, requiring personal accountability, quality, accuracy, integrity, and trust.
- Autonomy: Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Communication: Highly effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills for all organizational levels, including senior executives and customers.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to build partnerships internally and with external partners at all levels.
Nice-To-Haves
- Strong technical acumen, curiosity, and familiarity with new technologies, APIs, programming languages, and databases.
- Experience with implementations processing over 100 million transactions per day.
