Candidates should possess 5+ years of experience in AML Compliance and Fraud Risk related investigations, specifically filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and working complex investigations at a financial institution or related FinTech payments company. Prior experience with payment systems, US and international payment rails, and compliance obligations around payments is preferred, along with a strong understanding of AML transaction monitoring/suspicious activity reporting typologies and risks. A CFA or CFCS certification is preferred, and familiarity with public record research, blockchain analytics, and fraud detection techniques is desired.
This role involves performing detailed investigations into unusual activity based on predefined alerts for Fraud and AML, documenting findings, and escalating them for review by the Compliance Program Manager. The investigator will assist in the development of transaction monitoring rules, contribute to enhancing fraud configuration and transaction monitoring controls by providing proactive feedback, and ensure the thorough and timely filing of suspicious activity reports with FinCEN. Collaboration with internal partners to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and policies is also a key responsibility, as is providing input into the configuration of third-party fraud vendors and internal rules engines. Regular travel to Los Angeles is required for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
