Senior Business Analyst - Risk, Fraud and Disputes Product Team

Position Overview

Marqeta is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join the Risk, Fraud and Disputes Product Team. In this role, you will be instrumental in analyzing business processes, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and developing strategies to boost efficiency and productivity. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Data Science, Engineering, Legal, and Operations. A key aspect of this position involves presenting findings to Marqeta's customers and actively working with them to resolve their challenges.

The Impact You'll Have

  • Collaborate with diverse internal teams and customers to understand payment card programs, with a focus on fraud, risk, and disputes.
  • Engage directly with customers to grasp their business requirements and share best practices to foster growth.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that guide business decisions.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices in payment risk, fraud, and disputes.
  • Partner with the Data Science team to uncover new product opportunities and identify novel data sources that benefit both Marqeta and its customers.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the extensive data attributes available within Marqeta’s open API and data ecosystem.
  • Assess current data capabilities and create a roadmap for desired future states.
  • Transform existing data capabilities into new product opportunities.
  • Define product metrics, establish reporting mechanisms, and monitor performance, utilizing data to drive decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to ongoing optimization efforts.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders and executives.
  • Champion a delightful customer experience with a customer-first approach.

Who You Are

  • Possess 5+ years of experience in business analysis or product management and development, with experience in maturing existing market products.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of data analysis and visualization tools, potentially including Structured Query Language (SQL), Python (or R), and Tableau (or Looker).
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of the payment industry, specifically in risk, fraud, and disputes.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven track record of applying analytical/statistical methods and testing for real-world, data-driven problem-solving.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires high personal accountability, quality, accuracy, integrity, and trust.
  • Capable of working independently in a remote environment.
  • Exhibit highly effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills, suitable for all organizational levels, including senior executives and customers.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to build partnerships and alliances internally and with external partners at all organizational levels.

  • Strong technical acumen, curiosity, and familiarity with new technologies, APIs, programming languages, and databases.
  • Experience with the implementation of solutions processing over 100 million transactions per day.
