Risk Analyst
CheckFull Time
Mid-level (3 to 4 years)
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, with a Master's or Ph.D. being highly desirable. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nuclear safety or a similar environment is required, along with demonstrated expertise in nuclear PRA/QRA software such as CAFTA, SAPHIRE, ADAPT, or RAVEN. Experience with HAZOP, FMEA, or other process hazard analysis methodologies is also necessary. Bonus qualifications include knowledge of nuclear fuel cycle processes, accident scenarios, recycling technologies, safety regulations, fuel cycle facility design and analysis, uncertainty/transient/source term analyses, human reliability/external hazards/fire hazards analyses, Python programming, and experience in operations or maintenance of fuel cycle facilities.
The Risk Analysis Engineer will conduct probabilistic/quantitative risk analyses (PRAs/QRAs) to support the design, licensing, deployment, and operation of Oklo's used nuclear fuel (UNF) recycling facility. This includes developing PRA/QRA models, identifying initiating events, developing event trees and fault trees, quantifying probabilities, and evaluating consequences. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to incorporate risk insights into the design for improved reliability and safety, applying PRA techniques to internal process and external natural phenomena hazards, and supporting licensing activities by generating technical reports and documentation.
Develops advanced fission power plants
Oklo develops advanced fission power plants that utilize a unique approach to the fission reaction, ensuring safety and enabling the use of nuclear waste as fuel. Their main product, the Aurora reactor, generates up to 15 megawatts of power and can run for over 10 years without refueling, making it both cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Oklo distinguishes itself from competitors by focusing on recycling nuclear waste and providing energy solutions for a variety of clients, including industrial facilities and remote communities. The company's goal is to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy while transforming the nuclear energy sector.
