Junior (1 to 2 years)
Candidates must be current students pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated application of technical skills through projects or prior experience is highly preferred. Proficiency in technical areas like data analysis, computational modeling, and engineering software is required, with familiarity in coding and simulation tools such as Python or MATLAB being a plus. Exposure to physics-based modeling through coursework or research is also needed, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong self-starter, critical thinking, problem-solving, team player, and communication skills are essential.
Interns will contribute to the design, development, and testing of tools, infrastructures, and methods for reactor safety and performance analysis. They will perform data analysis and modeling tasks in areas such as radiation transport, thermal hydraulics, structural analysis, or computational fluid dynamics. Responsibilities also include assisting in research projects, validating models, collaborating with engineering teams, documenting work through technical reports, presenting findings, and adhering to safety protocols.
Designs and demonstrates advanced nuclear reactors
Kairos Power focuses on providing clean and affordable energy solutions through advanced nuclear reactor technology. Their main product, the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High-Temperature Reactor (KP-FHR), is designed to be cost-competitive with natural gas while maintaining a near-zero carbon footprint and low water usage. This technology is aimed at utility companies, government agencies, and private firms seeking sustainable energy options. Unlike many competitors, Kairos Power emphasizes the integrated design, licensing, and demonstration of their reactors to prove their safety and reliability. Their goal is to attract investments and partnerships to scale their technology and contribute to a cleaner energy future.
