Requirements

  • Proven track record of scoops and source-building in business, finance, economics, and markets
  • Ability to break news on capital flows, PE executive moves, and conduct exclusive interviews with corporate, banking, PE executives, and regional fund managers
  • Ability to source quickly and deliver scoops in private markets and energy news
  • Ability to identify important, forward-looking details from fast-moving information on regional companies, central banks, and business-news entities, and turn them into informative, punchy headlines and short articles in English
  • Ability to quickly analyze news and signals for investors, producing short quick-fire analysis, longer-form articles, and expansive thematic items
  • Accuracy, speed, excellent news judgment, and close eye for detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume news environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Excellent written English (essential); proficient Arabic (preferred)
  • Well-honed sense of urgency and capacity to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and time while handling multiple responsibilities
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn
  • Flexibility in changing/handing off tasks

Responsibilities

  • Break news – big and small scoops on business, finance, economics, and markets across the Middle East to drive professional readership
  • Tap existing sourcing or build sourcing to break news
  • Exercise exceptional news judgment to identify disclosed news important to professionals, prioritize, summarize into smart briefs, and provide subsequent analysis of implications for investors
  • Recognize and respond to the core audiences for Dow Jones Newswires and their needs/expectations
  • Collaborate with reporters and editors from Dow Jones Newswires, WSJ, other Dow Jones colleagues, and those in other bureaus/regions
  • Communicate precisely and respectfully
  • Uphold Dow Jones standards and ethics
  • Contribute to the daily global news report
