The Quality Improvement Specialist should have experience in supporting medical staff and allied health professionals with ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations. They must be proficient in reviewing clinical outcome indicator data, identifying trends in core measures and regulatory data, and preparing/reviewing charts with department chairs. Experience with performance dashboards, case review processes, physician measures, and medical record analysis for quality indicators is also required. The role requires data entry, error report management, and verification of diagnoses for proper DRG coding.
The Quality Improvement Specialist will provide primary staff support for professional practice evaluations, identify opportunities for improvement, and design monitoring activities. They will evaluate clinical outcomes, implement measurable plans for improvement, and collaborate with the Director to establish an annual quality activity calendar. Responsibilities include investigating and researching episodes requiring intensive review, root cause analysis, or peer review for the medical staff. The specialist will also review clinical outcome indicator data, identify trends, prepare charts, maintain performance dashboards, standardize case review processes, and analyze medical records for quality indicators.
