Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10 years of relevant IT experience
- Problem solving capability
- Willingness to learn new skills and technologies
- A great team player with good inter-personal skills and ability to relate to others
- Better understanding of the Linux operating system (hardware, kernel, shell)
- Solid experience in administering, configuring and using Linux Server operating system
- Experience in Apache HTTP and Tomcat web application server running under Linux Server
- Security related skills (SSL Certificates, Active Directory authorization or authentication, etc.)
- Experience in scheduling jobs and administrative task using crontab
- Creating shell scripts with Bourne shell [sh] and Bourne Again shell [bash]
- Experience in installation and configuration of Java JDK and JRE
- Setup and configure of SSH
- Experience in NFS, FTP and DNS
- Experience managing files and directories (ownership, ACL, and other permissions)
- Server migrations and management experience (tar, zip, sftp, scp, etc.)
- Better understanding of account management
- Network management knowledge
- System logging experience
- Experience in other applications (Jenkins, Subversion, Jira, Confluence, etc.) is a plus
Responsibilities
- Perform administration functions at the Census Bureau
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of products including Subversion, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence, Tomcat, etc. on Linux and Windows servers
- Design and implement archival and maintenance plans for application platforms to improve performance
- Troubleshoot issues related to access, performance, deployments and automation builds
