Product Manager, Driverless Customer Experience

Company Information

Motional is at the forefront of the driverless revolution. A joint venture between Hyundai Motor Group, one of the world’s largest vehicle manufacturers, and Aptiv, a global technology leader in advanced safety and vehicle connectivity, we are making autonomous vehicles a safe, reliable, and accessible reality.

Our team is composed of pioneers in the field who have been instrumental in the advancement of autonomous technology. As we prepare to launch our commercial robotaxi services, we are seeking talented, mission-driven individuals with a strong history of delivery to join us in fundamentally changing how the world moves.

Position Overview

Motional is seeking a highly technical and results-oriented Product Manager to define, build, and deliver an exceptional end-to-end experience for both our driverless robotaxi customers and our internal fleet operations teams. This role demands a deep understanding of software product development, a passion for user-centric design, and a proven track record of shipping complex, customer-facing and operational technical products.

You will be responsible for the product strategy and execution of the in-vehicle customer experience, including all in-vehicle displays and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI). Crucially, you will also own the customer-facing aspects of our integration with ride-hail partner applications (e.g., Uber, Lyft), ensuring a seamless and intuitive journey from booking to destination. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with engineering, strategy and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Overall Driverless Customer Experience Strategy

  • Develop and champion a compelling product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the entire driverless customer journey, focusing on creating intuitive, trustworthy, and delightful interactions at every touchpoint.
  • Translate insights into clear product requirements and a prioritized backlog that delivers measurable customer and business value.

In-Vehicle Customer Experience & HMI

  • Lead the product definition and development for all in-vehicle customer-facing interfaces, including primary information displays, interactive elements, audio cues, and ambient cabin experiences.
  • Drive the technical product roadmap for in-vehicle display software, ensuring robust functionality, responsiveness, and seamless integration with vehicle systems.

Ride-Hail App Partner Integration (Customer Experience Focus)

  • Own the product strategy for how Motional’s driverless service is presented and interacted with within our ride-hail partners' applications.

Technical Product Management & Delivery

  • Author detailed technical product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering teams across customer experience and fleet systems.
  • Demonstrate a strong bias for action and a proven ability to drive complex technical projects from concept through launch and iteration in an agile environment.
  • Partner closely with software engineering (cloud, embedded, mobile), hardware engineering, AI/ML, and QA teams to ensure features are technically sound, built to specification, and delivered on time.

Data-Driven Iteration & Optimization

  • Define and meticulously track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to customer satisfaction, engagement, task success rates, operational efficiency, and overall experience quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or HCI/Human Factors.
  • 5+ years of product management experience with a demonstrable strong technical background, specifically focused on customer-facing software products, operational tools, or complex system integrations.
  • Proven history of successfully delivering technically challenging products from initial concept through multiple iterations and commercial launch.
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies.
