Requirements

Washington State medical license (preferred)
Certification, or willingness to become certified, with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I)
Clinical expertise in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Proper credentialing, state licenses, and any special certifications required for the role
Ability to conduct in-person exams in Bellevue, WA (with potential additional locations)
Willingness to participate in video-recorded exams (approximately 15%)

Responsibilities

Review medical records, insurance appeals, prospective and retrospective claims to interpret medical necessity using client-specific policies, evidence-based guidelines, and standards of care
Address each client question with clear, concise rationale supported by adequate documentation
Identify, critique, and utilize current criteria/resources (e.g., national/state guidelines, peer-reviewed literature); avoid case studies/cohorts due to limited sample sizes
Provide copies of criteria used in reviews with the report
Return cases on or before due dates/times
Make mandated telephone calls per state/client requirements
Maintain credentialing, licenses, and certifications
Attend required orientation and training
Perform other duties as assigned, including quality assurance, complaints, regulatory issues, depositions, court appearances, or audits
