Requirements

Candidates should possess strong legislation expertise in the Eastern Europe region, experience in a senior payroll role within an in-house payroll environment processing payroll or being in a payroll audit, compliance role, and an understanding of the approach taken by local authorities, with a proven track record of communicating with authorities to resolve matters. They should have had exposure to local authority investigations and audits, experience in making recommendations for process improvements and ensuring their implementation, proficiency in data manipulation (e.g., SQL, Excel), excellent time management and organizational skills, and an analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities. Fluency in English and the local language is required, along with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment and a passion for making an impact.

Responsibilities

The Payroll Risk & Compliance Expert will act as a true local employment legislation and tax expert for the Eastern Europe region, conducting comprehensive risk reviews of payroll files to verify accuracy and compliance with all governmental wage tax laws (federal, state and local), identifying and rectifying discrepancies, underpayments, or overpayments, and recommending corrective actions. They will prepare detailed audit findings reports, maintain strong records of audits performed, and provide support and training on compliance matters to payroll staff. The role involves monitoring the regulatory climate, ensuring changes are understood and implemented, and working with internal teams to improve the platform, completing UAT testing through to sign-off. Furthermore, they will be responsible for ensuring the correctness of payroll processes and that checklists, sign-off criteria, and the network are fully embedded into Payroll Operations, and overall responsibility for compliance and reporting to the Manager of Payroll Compliance and Audit, working with Tax, Legal, and Payroll.
