Rescale is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role sits at the intersection of Finance and HR and will be instrumental in supporting and improving our global payroll and expense processes. You’ll have a unique opportunity to build foundational knowledge across Finance and HR operations while supporting international expansion and helping to drive scalable systems and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end global payroll processing in collaboration with HR, PEOs, and payroll providers, ensuring deadlines are consistently met with precision and accuracy.
  • Support 401(k) plan administration.
  • Support and manage payroll systems, proactively identifying areas for improvement.
  • Manage global expense reimbursement processes and help maintain our expense policies.
  • Take ownership of UK entity accounts payable, including invoice processing, payments, and vendor relations.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations (applying customer payments, depositing checks, managing incoming mail) and conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Track and manage nexus requirements for payroll and sales tax.
  • Assist in audits and tax-related matters tied to payroll, expenses, and compliance.
  • Support UK entity financial processes and international compliance in partnership with external advisors.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of accounting and payroll-related experience.
  • Strong interest in both HR and Finance functions.
  • Experience with payroll processing; familiarity with Bamboo HR or Deel is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with accounting software, NetSuite preferred.
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup environment is a plus.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow across the full accounting function.

Growth Potential

This role is designed for someone who wants to build a career in Finance by starting with ownership over payroll and AP. You’ll be exposed to the full accounting lifecycle and have opportunities to expand into other areas such as GL accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
