PayNearMeFull Time
Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
Candidates must have at least 10 years of software engineering experience building high-performance developer tools, SDKs, or distributed systems, with a minimum of 3 years leading technical teams or large projects. Expertise in at least two of the following languages is required: Go, Ruby (Rails), Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript. A proven track record of architecting and shipping complex, high-throughput systems in production environments is essential, along with a deep understanding of browser internals, automation frameworks, and secure web interaction paradigms. Familiarity with modern AI/ML workflows or agent frameworks is also expected, as is a strong focus on code quality, testability, performance, and operational excellence, including TDD, automated testing, and observability stacks. Exceptional communication skills are necessary for cross-disciplinary and cross-level collaboration.
The Principal Engineer will define and communicate the long-term technical roadmap for the browser-automation stack, balancing rapid iteration with maintainability and scalability. They will be responsible for writing production code daily, including rapid prototyping, benchmarking, and shipping features. This role involves designing distributed, fault-tolerant services and developer-facing SDKs/APIs, as well as owning cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, security, and observability. The engineer will also grow, mentor, and inspire the engineering team, conduct code reviews, establish engineering culture, and foster technical excellence and psychological safety. Collaboration with product, design, and developer-relations teams is key to aligning technical choices with developer needs and business goals, and community feedback will be translated into improvements. Finally, the role requires translating complex technical trade-offs into clear language for executives and stakeholders, and providing regular updates on progress and risks.
