Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in sales, marketing or finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in an industrial-type sales or distribution environment (preferred)
  • Negotiating and selling skills required with a proven record of achieving or exceeding assigned sales goals
  • Past record of achieving double digit year-over-year sales growth (preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrates understanding of products, services and associated technologies or the willingness/ability to learn; must be able to explain types of gases and their uses to customers
  • Excellent presentation, negotiating, and public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of corresponding geographical area
  • Ability to drive and walk considerable distances on a daily basis (5-100 miles per day)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; self-starter, self-motivated, sense of urgency, personable, extroverted personality, well organized, ability to achieve goals, ability to focus and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds
  • Continuously – In the field 85% of work time

Responsibilities

  • Identification and development of strategic relationships with potential customers within a defined area to promote new business sales growth
  • Comply with all regulatory agencies and requirements including, but not limited to OSHA, FDA, and Airgas policies and procedures
  • Ensure all applicable regulatory (OSHA, FDA, EPA) requirements are met and applicable training and recordkeeping is completed
  • Manage sales, sales growth, gross margins, safety, and accounts receivable
  • Build relationships with existing customers in an attempt to increase their current business
  • Develop a strong pipeline of new customers and projects
  • Use current and new technologies to effectively develop new market initiatives, assess new markets, and analyze business opportunities in addition to sales leads
  • Generate proposals for new business opportunities and partnerships that support overall corporate goals; negotiate contract details; work with District Manager and Area V.P. to close deals
  • Determine customer needs, volume potential, and pricing schedules
  • Stay current with knowledge of business competition on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc
  • Assist customers with equipment set-up and demonstration as necessary
  • Maintain/upgrade selling skills and technical/product knowledge
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
