Candidates should possess at least 3 years of experience working with Relational Databases, a fundamental understanding of Linux OS basics, proficiency in shell usage including commands like less, nano, vim, grep, cd, df, top, ls, etc., the ability to connect to remote systems using SSH with password and public/private keys, and knowledge of concepts like IO, load, CPU, RAM, and disk usage. Familiarity with automation concepts, basic knowledge of InnoDB internals, Performance Schema, and the ability to optimize queries are also required, along with experience using tools from the Percona Toolkit or similar. A deep understanding of replication and replication models, including GTIDS, skilled troubleshooting in a MySQL environment, knowledge of backup solutions and strategies, and familiarity with high availability (HA) solutions and strategies are essential.
The MySQL DBA will troubleshoot and resolve customer issues related to DB systems availability and performance, develop relationships with customers and maintain their satisfaction through regular communication, perform technical work requiring planning and scheduling to deliver optimal solutions, react on incidents and provide solutions for environment improvements, work in a fast-paced environment responsible for critical systems, and potentially travel for internal meetings. The role also includes executing change management plans, adhering to incident handling processes, and communicating complex information to both internal teams and customers effectively.
