Clio is a global leader transforming the legal experience. We are seeking a Staff Software Developer, Databases to join our Systems Engineering, Production team. This role is for someone passionate about building innovative solutions and tackling new challenges while making a significant impact. This role is available to candidates across Canada and the US.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Discover, triage, and solve difficult performance and scalability problems in Clio’s core applications and databases.
  • Iterate and evolve infrastructure, data schema, application code, and products to address complex scalability issues.
  • Drive the current and future architecture of Clio, teaching engineering teams scalable patterns, particularly at the RDBMS layer.
  • Prepare Clio’s database infrastructure for the future in terms of scale and reliability.
  • Collaboratively define the roadmap to support business goals and satisfy application requirements.
  • Investigate and solve performance problems with Clio’s MySQL databases.
  • Work on transitioning, maintaining, and modernizing the database infrastructure, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Use experience to guide development teams on how to improve and optimize database queries, integrate best practices for schema design and migration.
  • Scope, define, and collaborate with developers to implement automation and processes that power the reliability of Clio’s datastores.
  • Participate in architectural discussions to help shape the future direction of backend services.
  • Elevate and educate our engineering processes within Clio.
