Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Go is necessary, as is familiarity with IaC/IfC tools like Terraform. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Kubernetes, is essential. Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are also required. Experience managing teams responsible for both development and production support, and the ability to lead through change and ambiguity are crucial. Experience running production workloads at scale on AWS is also a requirement.
The Manager, Engineering will lead and mentor a team responsible for managing data store clusters and associated infrastructure. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, fostering continuous improvement and automation, and ensuring adherence to best practices in security, reliability, and performance. The role involves managing team capacity, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring timely project delivery in collaboration with Technical Product Management. Strategic planning, contributing to the technical roadmap, and advocating for platform engineering principles are also key duties. The manager will support the team during on-call rotations and critical incidents to ensure system reliability and availability.
