ReadMe is seeking an Infrastructure Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on performance, reliability, and internal tools. This role involves managing a team responsible for ensuring the site's speed, stability, and scalability, while also empowering developers with necessary tools. It’s a player-coach role where leadership and coding are equally important. ReadMe helps companies build beautiful, personalized, and interactive developer hubs, providing tools for teams to create and manage documentation with ease.

Requirements

  • Experience: Experienced Engineering Manager with server-side software development experience (Node.js or similar language).
  • Infrastructure Design: Comfortable designing production infrastructure and implementing ideas.
  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with technologies from service providers like AWS and Cloudflare.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Bonus): Experience with tools like Terraform is a plus.
  • Passion: Passionate about creating products that users love.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team responsible for designing and building infrastructure and tooling to ensure ReadMe’s data storage is fast, reliable, and secure.
  • Observability Tooling: Expand the tooling for the observability platform to ensure developers can effectively use logging, metrics, and alerts.
  • Deploybert Enhancement: Add features to Deploybert (internal automation system) to support new services and expand its capabilities.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute ideas around ReadMe’s infrastructure strategy and communicate them to colleagues.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders.

Growth Timeline

  • Within One Month:
    • Become familiar with the ReadMe team and product.
    • Become familiar with ReadMe’s current infrastructure.
    • Participate in planning meetings for upcoming features.
  • Within a Few Months:
    • Begin developing infrastructure capabilities to support ReadMe’s latest projects and architecture.
    • Begin to form opinions on what ReadMe’s infrastructure will look like moving forward.
  • Within Your First Year:
    • Guide internal initiatives for technical improvements to the infrastructure.
