As an Engineering Manager on the Data Security team, you’ll lead a team focused on building the secure foundations for all 1Password products, including designing new cryptographic systems and preparing for a post-quantum future. You’ll collaborate with Product and Security Engineering to shape a security roadmap and grow a team of technical experts. This is a remote opportunity.

Requirements

  • Strong background in data security, ideally in applied cryptography.
  • Experience with:
    • Implementing modern symmetric or asymmetric cryptographic algorithms.
    • Building or integrating digital signature schemes and hash functions.
    • Delivering key management systems, key distribution protocols, or working with hardware security modules.
    • Identifying and mitigating real-world security vulnerabilities and attack vectors.
  • Experience managing or technically leading a team of developers.
  • Hands-on engineering experience and the ability to tackle complex, ambiguous problems through code.
  • Ability to coach developers and elevate team performance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive team environment.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to guide a team through trade-offs.
  • Comfortable diving into technical details to unblock or accelerate progress.
  • Experience driving delivery and long-term planning, shaping roadmaps.
  • Ability to communicate clearly across disciplines, balancing security best practices with business needs.
