Requirements

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, and have a minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering. They should demonstrate expertise in designing and implementing data pipelines, with experience in both commercial and open-source technologies. Strong knowledge of database design, data modeling, and performance tuning is required, along with experience working with diverse data sources and formats. Candidates must also have experience with cloud-based data platforms and a commitment to data governance policies. Furthermore, a UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance is necessary, or a minimum of 5 years of living and working in the UK to support the application process.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store data from various sources. You will lead the design and development of new data solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and data governance policies. This includes conducting database design, data modeling, and performance tuning, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as data scientists, analysts, DevOps, and software engineers. You will troubleshoot data issues, drive best practices in code quality and CI/CD, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the data platform by exploring new technologies and methodologies.
