Kemper is seeking a Major Loss Auto Claims Adjuster. Our office offers a pleasant, business casual environment with advantages that include flexible scheduling and generous paid time off to start.

Position Responsibilities

  • Primarily handles non-standard auto claims with high complexity, large injury severity, and minimal policy limits.
  • Reviews each claim to ensure that all coverage and exposures issues have been identified and investigated.
  • Contacts insureds and claimants within established corporate guidelines to provide notification of reassignment of the claim and to continue the settlement process.
  • Handles questions on coverage with a reservation of rights letter and/or non-waiver agreement.
  • Advises the underwriting Department of adverse findings regarding insureds and/or coverage.
  • Conducts investigations independently and at the direction of management utilizing sound investigative procedures to establish liability as quickly as possible and proactively resolves claims.
  • Evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of bodily injury claims.

Position Qualifications

  • 5+ years of auto claims adjusting experience, including experience with evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of represented and unrepresented bodily injury claims.
  • Preferred candidate has experience with non-standard auto and minimal policy limits.
  • Some experience with severe injuries is a plus.
  • Experience handling complex coverage and liability investigations.
  • The ability to work closely with senior management.
  • Ability to follow detailed and specific direction on file handling when required.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to deal with conflict in an effective manner.
  • Workload could vary greatly based on volume. Must be able to work effectively amid constant interruptions and be able to meet deadlines.
  • Must make decisions quickly and with minimal supervision.
