Requirements

  • Mechanical proficiency for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and AC/DC electrical motors and drives
  • Ability to maintain and perform basic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyor systems, sortation, scales, and printer applicators
  • Capability to adjust, reset, repair, or replace adjustable components (belts, chains, cables) and wearing components (guides, bearings, wheels, rollers, pulleys)
  • Skills to maintain and troubleshoot motors, photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, encoders, etc
  • Ability to clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment
  • Use of appropriate job plans, procedures, and manuals
  • Entry-level position with promotion potential to Maintenance Mechanic 2 upon demonstrating proficiency via hands-on validation and written assessment

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair automated material handling and facility equipment to ensure high equipment availability rates
  • Use preventive and predictive maintenance processes
  • Rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and restore equipment to service to support supply chain facility operations
  • Work with other Target mechanics to solve problems and validate quality of work for outside specialty contractors
  • Meet aggressive timelines
  • Collaborate with Senior Systems Engineers to perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures
  • Perform preventative maintenance
