Position Overview

This role involves making fair, accurate, timely, and quality claims decisions on life insurance claims. While primarily handling cases up to an allowable signature limit, there's potential to work on cases exceeding this limit with prior approval and second signatures. The position requires managing phone and transactional responsibilities while adhering to strict confidentiality and privacy standards. It also involves embracing new technology and supporting digital capabilities, adapting effectively to changing environments, and working with unstructured teams and situations.

Responsibilities

  • Make fair, accurate, timely, and quality claims decisions on life insurance claims up to the allowable signature limit.
  • Examine claim information, including beneficiary data, policy values, and policy status.
  • Analyze information received during the claim review process, such as death certificates, claim forms, assignment forms, divorce decrees, and estate/trust documentation.
  • Deliver a personalized and empathetic experience for beneficiaries and field members by educating them on available settlement options.
  • Communicate verbally and construct letters and emails to beneficiaries, field members, and third parties regarding inquiries, outstanding requirements, claim status updates, and decisions.
  • Research and evaluate solutions to resolve emerging situations and concerns, which may involve deviating from procedures.
  • Maintain organization, accuracy, and timeliness in individual case management systems, capturing and documenting claim-related information accurately or referring tasks as appropriate.
  • Maintain production and claims quality standards.
  • Serve as an advocate for new technology by educating beneficiaries and field representatives.
  • Support digital savvy capabilities in oneself and others.
  • Adapt to changing environments and new situations effectively and positively.
  • Work effectively with unstructured teams, situations, or environments.
  • Participate in team meetings, projects, and committee work, including the development of process improvements.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed to support the business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Previous experience with life insurance is desirable.
  • Must be technically savvy with the ability to toggle between multiple applications and/or computer monitors simultaneously.
  • Exhibits empathy and strong client focus and customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and ask thoughtful questions to understand situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of accuracy in handling detailed technical work.
  • High degree of self-motivation with proven initiative in accepting responsibility for work results and contributing cooperatively to group goals.
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a positive, confident attitude; exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views.
  • Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise tact and diplomacy with field/clients and beneficiaries.

Compensation

  • Pay Range - Start: $48,580.00
  • Pay Range - End: $90,220.00

Geographic Specific Pay Structure:

  • Structure 110 (Exempt): $53,410.00 USD - $99,190.00 USD
  • Structure 115 (Exempt): $55,860.00 USD - $103,740.00 USD
