Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, and generally 3-7 years of experience in miscellaneous medical professional liability or healthcare underwriting. They should be in the process of obtaining, or already have, certifications such as CPCU, RPLU, AINS, or similar designations, and be self-motivated with strong relationship management skills suitable for a remote work environment.
The Medical Professional & Telehealth Liability Underwriter will manage a diverse portfolio of miscellaneous medical and telehealth accounts, handling risk selection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability. They will balance high-volume accounts with complex risks, analyze submissions, determine terms, and price business according to guidelines, assess risk quality and compliance, and monitor premiums and claims ratios. The role also involves collaborating with the hiring manager to shape product development, contributing ideas to improve underwriting processes, and fostering strong business relationships with brokers and stakeholders, with occasional travel for team events and broker meetings.
